This is not a hands-on workshop. The lecture can be accompanied by a slide show.
In this short introduction to knitted lace, we will discuss the following topics:

- Lace knitting versus knitted lace, what’s the difference?
- Yarns used for knitting lace
- Knitting tools used for lace
- Stitches used in knitting lace
- Charts versus line-by-line instructions
After attending this lecture, students will be ready to begin knitting a simple lace swatch from the instructions provided in the handout.

Materials (optional, for homework after the lecture)
Approx 50 yards of worsted-weight wool yarn
Size 5 knitting needles
Stitch markers
Sticky note (recommended) or row counter
Basic knitting tools
Handouts will be provided
